75 years ago, the Second World War in Europe came to an end. While the victors danced in the streets, and the vanquished gathered up the broken pieces and began to look ahead, Holocaust survivors began to confront immense loss and search for friends and family members. An almost superhuman effort was needed to pick up the pieces of broken lives and to start over again. In many cases, entire families had been murdered, and only single members were left. In this presentation, Yad Vashem's Ephraim Kaye, Director of the International Seminars at the International School for Holocaust Studies, will highlight the voices of Holocaust survivors recalling their journey to return to life.
