Religion & Politics: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Rabbi Michael Singer
With campaign season in full swing, join us for a timely class exploring the intersection of religion and politics. From ancient times to the present, Jews and Judaism have always been involved in the political process. What does our faith have to say about the issues? How do other faiths look at these issues? Where does religion belong (or not belong) in the overall political discourse?
Topics will include war, healthcare, abortion, the environment, the minimum wage, school vouchers. prayer in schools, religious freedom and its limits, religion in the military, immigration and separation of church and state. We will explore both Jewish involvement and perspectives on these issues but also the larger American religious and political scene.
Classes will be on Wednesdays following the 7:15 p.m. minyan: 9/7, 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/19, 10/26, 11/9, 11/16.
Rides available upon request.
