Chag Sameach! We hope you will celebrate Shavuot and the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai with your Bnai Shalom community! We will have both an Erev Shavuot celebration on June 1st and a Mincha (afternoon) service with Yizkor on June 3rd.
BNAI SHALOM EREV SHAVUOT CELEBRATION
Sunday, June 1
6:00 p.m. Dairy/Vegetarian Potluck Dinner
Bring your favorite dairy/vegetarian/vegan dish to share. Any dish is welcome: appetizer, salad, entrée, side dish, dessert. RSVP so we know what you will bring. Please bring your dish ready to serve (we will not be able to reheat dishes) and plan to bring your dish home afterwards.
7:15 p.m. Tikkun Leil Shavuot: Study Session with Rabbi Adrienne: “Receiving Torah at Sinai in Every Generation"
There is a kabbalistic tradition of participating in a Tikkun Leil Shavu’ot, a night of Torah study, to thoroughly prepare to re-live the receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Some communities study all night and then hear the Ten Commandments chanted at the morning service. At our study session, we will examine the concept of the ongoing revelation at Sinai before our Ma’ariv service.
Our Torah tells us that each and every one of us stood together at Sinai to receive the Torah? What does that mean to us? What did it mean to our sages? Come and find out!
8:00 p.m. Ma’ariv (Evening) Service with the Ten Commandments and the Book of Ruth
We will have a traditional Ma’ariv evening service, but will also stand and receive the Ten Commandments and hear portions of the Book of Ruth, which is read on Shavu’ot.
To RSVP to come in person, call the office at 610-258-5343 or click here: https://my.linkpod.site/Shavuot-Bnai-Shalom
