Statement on Ongoing Violence in Israel

The Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley is extremely concerned with the wave of violent terrorist attacks that has struck the State of Israel in the last few months. Just this week, and while Vice President Joseph Biden was in Israel to speak about peace and security, terrorists struck in Petah Tikva, Jerusalem and Jaffa—leaving more than thirteen Israelis injured and Taylor Force, a 29-year-old American graduate student, dead.

We would like to thank Vice President Biden and the rest of the administration for their support for the Jewish state as it has confronted the wave of terror attacks in the last six months. Following the attack, Vice President Biden not only condemned the attack, but sharply criticized those who refuse to do so: "Let me say in no uncertain terms: The United States of America condemns these acts and condemns the failure to condemn these acts. This cannot become an accepted modus operandi."

The Jewish Federation is outraged by the lack of condemnation from the Palestinian Authority (PA) that refuses to denounce the attacks and proclaims the attackers as martyrs on its social media platforms. We join the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, the Anti-Defamation League and Jewish Federations of North America in calling for the PA to condemn these attacks in no uncertain terms.
