Jewish Federations Applaud Extension of Benefits for Displaced Afghans

“Jewish Federations applaud the Biden Administration for extending and redesignating Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Afghanistan. As our federations and partner social service agencies continue supporting our Afghan allies who were evacuated to the United States, TPS eligibility will provide additional stability and certainty to Afghans who have been in limbo for over two years. At the same time, we recognize that their only true pathway to stability and certainty is through the passage of the Afghan Adjustment Act. Jewish Federations and our network of partner human service agencies will not abandon our advocacy for this legislation.”

Last year, Jewish Federations partnered with the Shapiro Foundation to help Jewish human service agencies in their efforts to resettle displaced Afghan. Working in partnership with Jewish human service agencies, the initiative enabled nearly 2,000 displaced Afghans to resettle in dozens of communities across 16 U.S. states and Canada.
