Jewish Federations’ Global Volunteer Hub has launched Connect for Good: Chat with Ukraine, a new virtual volunteering initiative in partnership with ENGin, that will allow North American volunteers to make a difference in the lives of Ukrainians affected by the war.
The Connect for Good: Chat with Ukraine initiative matches English-speaking volunteers with Ukrainians seeking to sharpen their English skills for one-on-one weekly conversation practice and cultural exchange. Volunteers will also participate in monthly Federatons-led Jewish learning sessions to ground their service in Jewish values and provide an opportunity to reflect together.
"While the Jewish community's heads and hearts are with Israel during this difficult time, our community continues to address the ongoing needs in Ukraine as well," said Hannah Miller, program director for the Jewish Federations of North America's Global Volunteer Hub. "This opportunity could help Ukrainians broaden their skills and increase income at a time when they are under both military and economic bombardment."
The initiative is open to any English speaker aged 14 and older, who will receive all necessary training and support throughout their participation in the program with tips, resources, and troubleshooting via ENGin. No prior teaching or tutoring experience is required.
Connect for Good is an innovative engagement tool that will make an impact both on an individual level and as a Jewish communal collective.
