Jewish Federations welcome Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's comments that he will no longer support "the override clause" and other controversial elements of the judicial reforms proposal. Starting with an open letter to the prime minister and opposition leader in February, Federations have made the case that any reforms must leave intact a strong system of checks and balances, which is key to the democratic pillar of protecting minority rights. We are encouraged by this development and will continue to encourage dialogue and negotiation on any elements of the reform legislation that continue to move forward.
