Jewish Federations of North America issued the following statement on the occasion of President Isaac Herzog's address to Congress:
“The historic friendship between the United States and Israel is rooted in shared values, the pursuit of peace and justice and a commitment to democracy. President Herzog’s warm reception today by members of Congress across party lines is a testament to the unique relationship these two nations share, and the eternal bonds that unite us. Jewish Federations are deeply proud to celebrate and work to strengthen these ties every day.”
We are honored that a number of our leaders were present today for this special address, including former member of Congress and Jewish Federations of North America President & CEO Eric Fingerhut, and Jewish Federations of North America Board Chair Julie Platt, who was a special guest of First Lady Michal Herzog. We value our long friendship with the President and First Lady.
Jewish Federations have invested billions of dollars to strengthen Israeli society and develop the Jewish State. In recent months, Jewish Federations have expressed their concerns with Israeli leaders on the proposed judicial reforms and have urged for immediate compromise.
