Founded in March 2011, we are a new and exciting congregation. We strive to be a warm and caring congregation focused on our families, our friends and our community. We recognize that our community is very diverse and every member has his/her own needs. We welcome Jews of all backgrounds, Jews-by-choice and reach out to unaffiliated and interfaith families. Our members have had a long and distinguished history of service both to the Jewish people and to the general community.
Our worship experience is warm, spiritual and uplifting. Our programs and activities are social, educational and communal in nature. Have you ever gone to services and felt alone in the congregation? That won’t happen at TSS!
We are a Reform-based congregation and we take with great seriousness our special responsibility to meet a wide variety of individual needs on a very personal level. We are guided by tradition, but not bound by it. We offer a Temple community of Jewish life and ritual that seeks to support, sustain and strengthen the personal feelings and collective commitment of our membership. Our mission is to take the individual spark of every one of our members and transform that into a warm and vibrant flame of Jewish learning and Jewish living. What we do best is to offer our members a strong sense of community in which everyone feels valued and respected.
MISSION STATEMENT
To provide all Lehigh Valley Jews looking to explore their Judaism with a safe, comforting and friendly place to pray, learn and socialize with each other while growing a strong Reform community. We will do this by:
• Always offering a welcoming experience to every member – current or new
• Treating everyone with respect and kindness
• Providing opportunities to participate in services and programs
• Offering life-long learning opportunities for all ages from child to adult
• Providing an open atmosphere of decision making where everyone has a vote
• Blending the traditional with the newest Reform thinking
WEEKLY SERVICES
Fridays, 7 p.m. at The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th Street, Allentown.
The first Friday of every month we come together for our “Pre-Neg” wine and cheese reception beginning at 6:30 PM. Every Shabbat service is followed by an Oneg Shabbat. The second Shabbat service of every month is our Wandering Jews Shabbat, with services accompanied by our TSS "house band."
Our High Holy Day services are held at Scottish Rite Cathedral located at 1533 Hamilton Street, Allentown.
RELIGIOUS/HEBREW SCHOOL
Sundays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., JCC of Allentown, kindergarten through confirmation.
We are a small congregation and, as such, your child can benefit from a close relationship with peers, teaching staff and the cantor and not "get lost in the crowd."
ADULT EDUCATION
TSS holds a variety of adult education opportunities throughout the year dealing with both Jewish and secular topics.
