Bring your own brunch and join the Maimonides Society of the Jewish Federation for a discussion on LGBTQ issues in medicine.
About 4.5% of the adult population in the United States, or 11 million adults, identify as a sexual or gender minority, more commonly referred to as LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, plus) - nearly 32,000 adults in the Lehigh Valley. Unfortunately, LGBTQ+ individuals experience tremendous social and health inequities compared to the general population, and to make matters worse, accessing medical care can be extremely difficult or impossible due to tremendous barriers faced.
Join us for a topical lecture with Lehigh Valley native and long-time JCC member Dr. Rebecca Markson, and Dr. Nicole Defenbaugh as we explore this complex topic in further detail. At the end of our session, we will be joined by Sandy Mesics, RN and Manager of Diversity and Inclusion, and Deborah Strause, LCSW, as we enter the Q&A panel discussion.
Free and open to everyone. Register here to receive the Zoom link.
