Alvin "Al" H. Goren

Alvin "Al" H. Goren, beloved husband, dedicated father, cherished grandfather, and devoted friend, passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and adopted by his loving parents, Shirley and Max Goren, who raised him alongside his sister, Rochelle.

In 1967, Al graduated from George W. Hewlett High School in the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools. He traveled to Israel in 1970, where he was living when he met the love of his life, Sharon. They were married in 1972 and remained inseparable for the next 53 years.

Al went on to earn his bachelor's degree in science and his teaching certification from Iowa State University. He later received two master's degrees in science education and educational administration. Al had a deep passion for education and served as a teacher, principal, and school administrator. He was a role model and friend to many members of the education community in upstate New York. He loved to reminisce about the generations of students he taught and mentored, sharing stories filled with life lessons and laughter.

For the past 13 years, Al and Sharon lived in Pennsylvania. Following their retirement, they were able to fully explore their shared passion for travel. When they were not visiting loved ones in Delray Beach, Toronto, and Melbourne, they could often be found on group trips or traveling with dear friends.

Above all, Al cherished his family. He was raised in a large family with many cousins, a value he carried throughout his life. He was most proud of his role as a loving husband to Sharon; a devoted father to Stephanie, Jessica (Stasi), and Ashley (Marc); and a proud "Papa" to Alex, Isabel, Kaia, Meredith, and Emmy.
