Max Lee Ronis

Max Lee Ronis, age 95, passed away peacefully at his home in Philadelphia on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Born in Philadelphia on May 8, 1930, to Bernard Joseph and Tanya Kagan Ronis, Max spent his life deeply rooted in the city he loved. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Sonia Ronis (née Friedman), his cherished daughter Carol Beth, and his brother, Richard Paul.

Max married Mary in 1954, and together they raised three daughters: Carol Beth, Nan Jennifer, and Michelle Susan. A proud graduate of Temple University School of Medicine, Class of 1956, Max dedicated his career to the field of otolaryngology (ENT). His leadership and expertise led him to serve as Department Chair, a role in which he mentored countless physicians and improved patient care throughout the region.

Outside of medicine, Max was an avid scuba diver and a passionate member of the Temple Underwater Medicine team. He was known not only for his intellectual rigor but also for his irreverent sense of humor, which brought levity and joy to all who knew him. Above all, Max was devoted to his family, a constant source of pride and love.

Max is survived by his daughters Michelle Posner and Nan Ronis; his son-in-law Robert Sun; his son-in-law Alain Harrus; and his grandchildren: Daniel and Steven Posner, Matthew and Michael Sun, and Isaac and Rachel Harrus. He was blessed to see his family grow with great-grandchildren Jonathan Mahaffey, Allistair Harrus, and Bastian Harrus. Max also leaves behind his nephew Christopher Ronis, his wife Sage Lehman, and their sons Alex and Sam.
